Alcoholic liver disease
Alcohol is harmful to liver. Excessive alcohol consumption causes fatty liver in 90% of alcoholics and cirrhosis occur in 10 % of individuals over next 5 year.
Alcoholic liver disease develops in women after a shorter duration of drinking and a lower daily intake than in men.
Although no limit of alcohol is considered safe but men must usually drink 40 to 80grams if alcohol and women 20 to 40gram daily for 10 to 12 years to achieve a significant risk of liver disease.
