Acute Pancreatitis

Acute Pancreatitis is the most common pancreas disease. Patient present with acute onset of epigastric or left upper quadrant pain, often radiating to back.

Patient also have symptom of constipation , vomiting or not passage of flatus.

Causes

  • Gallstones
  • Alcohol
  • Hypertriglyceridemia
  • Trauma
  • Diabetes Mellitus
  • Hypercalcemia
  • Drugs
  • Parasites

Diagnosis

  • Raised serum amylase and lipase level
  • USG abdomen
  • CECT abdomen

Treatment

  • Initial management includes adequate hydration with iv fluids
  • Endoscopic or surgical treatment in case of complication
  • CECT abdomen
