Transmission

  • Percutaneous ( Blood transfusion and needle stick inoculation )
  • Non-percutaneous ( sexual contact and perinatal exposure )

Clinical features

  • HCV accounts for 20% of cases of acute hepatitis . Acute hepatitis C is rarerly seen.
  • Most patients of hepatitis c are asymptomatic
  • Fatigue
  • Vague abdominal pain
  • Less common symptoms such as paresthesias, myalgia , nausea , anorexia and difficulty with concentration

Diagnosis

  • Anti HCV antibody
  • HCV RNA
  • Deranged LFT

Treatement

  • Combination of drugs are available for treatment of viral hepatitis
